NeoLab: Clinical Research and Innovation for Neonatal Well-Being
Laboratory of Excellence dedicated to neonatal clinical research.
We believe that the early stages of life are crucial to future development, and we work tirelessly to discover innovative solutions that can make a difference.
Biomarkers of oxidative stress
Our clinical research focuses on key areas of neonatology, tackling critical challenges through advanced approaches. One of our primary clinical research strands explores biomarkers of oxidative stress, which serve as crucial tools for the early identification of infants at risk of brain injury. Through these studies, we aim to develop innovative neuroprotective strategies and therapies that can prevent or mitigate brain injuries, thereby improving long-term developmental outcomes.
PNRR NextGenerationEU "REMS-BONE"
Optimizing bone mass during skeletal growth is essential for preventing osteopenia and osteoporosis. Bone health is influenced as early as maternal nutrition and overall health, which significantly affect fetal skeletal mass and bone density. Both genetic factors and environmental exposures during intrauterine life and early postnatal development contribute to bone health. Mechanisms such as the “fetal programming” of oxidative stress and endocrine systems also play a crucial role in skeletal development.
